Apterona helicoidella is a moth of the Psychidae family. It is widely distributed in Europe, from Portugal through most of central Europe and the Alps, up to the Ural. It is also found on the Balkan and in Turkey. It was introduced in North America by accident.

Case

There is strong sexual dimorphism in the adults. Males have wings, but females do not. They resemble larvae reach a length of about 5 mm and are wingless.

The larvae feed on various plants, including Potentilla neumanniana, Erodium cicutarium, Teucrium, Artemisia vulgaris, Helianthemum mummularium and Alyssum montanum.
